North Korea is expected to get its own domain identity from ICANN, according to a France Press report via Inquirer.net.
Internet access in the North of Korea is strictly limited – but the award of an internet identity for the country is, at least, a stepping stone towards opening up to the rest of the world.
ICANN has recently also given a domain identity to Palestine – .ps.

Seems ICANN have been out squashing this story. As North Korea already has the KP country code it does not need any further approval from them. Whether or not this will be activated is another story.
