The International Search Summit Barcelona is taking place on 8 May 2018. Covering a wide range of international search marketing topics and challenges, the conference is highly recommended for marketers and SEOs managing international websites and running global campaigns.

We’ve asked one of our speakers – Jeroen Maljers from Swydo – what attendees will gain from his talk and why people should attend the International Search Summit. Here’s what he had to say!

Why is PPC a good channel to use when testing and expanding to new markets?

PPC, especially search-oriented PPC, targets people that are searching actively for a solution to their problems. They have a demand, you can supply them with the solution. As a result, leveraging search-oriented PPC campaigns is an excellent way to test the waters. You can test the search volume, the search terms used, the click rate and with that information reshape your offering and go-to-market strategy.

When rolling out in multiple markets/languages, scaling up can be a challenge – how can that process be made more time and cost efficient?

If you have an international offering that more or less is consistent across markets, it is wise to choose a common characteristic and scale across that axis. For instance, if your offering is suitable for English-speaking markets, it is cost efficient to focus first on all English-speaking countries. As a side effect, probably the cultural differences will also be less prolific.

Many companies starting out don’t have huge budgets – what are some of the ways marketers can maximise their budget and get results, without spending big?

Focus on search first. Search is at the bottom of the marketing funnel; these are individuals with intent and budget. You’ll get a greater return on your investment by focusing on the people that are ready to buy, rather than on people that have to be educated and generate interest in the product or service you offer.

What will ISS attendees learn from your talk?

I will share “ready to go” tactics that we’ve developed over time and continue to leverage at Swydo. Attendees will be able to take what they learn and apply it to their business immediately!
