Italia.it was quietly shut down on January 18th – it simply disappeared form the web after a long agony lasting nearly 18 months.
A project of pharaonic dimensions, Italia.it was conceived as the gateway to Italy, a portal providing information and services to those traveling to Italy (for business and leisure).
Institutions and politicians have avoided talk about this miserable failure [those words bring back memories ?] subject to continuous attacks from the blogosphere for numerous reasons and the price tag: Today Italia.it closes with an overall (official) expenditure of nearly 6 million Euro.
