Yandex, the Russian mega-portal, announced today the release of their desktop search software; Yandex Personal Search
The software can be downloaded from their site free of charge and runs on Windows 98, 2000, XP and 2003. It allows textual searching on the file formats DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF, SWF, HTML, TXT, as well as music file MP3 and Outlook/Outlook Express.
With their contextual advertising program, Yandex Direct, rumoured to be opening the gates in the first quarter of 2006 they are right on the Google’s heels in the feature race.
