China aims to can spam with new measures

With 60% of the emails in China considered spam, China’s Ministry of Information enacted their first anti-spam measures to take effect on March 30th. Unfortunately these measures are purely administrative and only apply to anyone operating an email service. China has previously attempted to reign in the number of spam emails by implementing an opt in system and creating an Internet Spam Complaint Reporting Center. The measures only affect legitimate businesses and have done little to eliminate the real problem. Nevertheless it is a step in the right direction and hopefully more steps will be taken to limit the spammers reach.
