Search and Digital Marketing company GMG SEO have compiled data on the percentage of states in Australia which have active search (SEO, social media, PPC) campaigns in place for their businesses.
The figures are somewhat alarming for some states, yet people should view them as an oppurtunity to gain massive market share online in the state they do business.
Search (SEO, Social Media) Campaigns By State
Victoria – 69%
New South Wales – 77%
ACT – 21%
Western Australia – 36%
South Australia – 28%
Tasmania – 11%
Northern Territory – 8%
Queensland – 58%
The figures above show that the east coast of Australia (which is 80% of the population) make up the majority of the businesses utilizing the digital space for there business, although the gold mines lie in states like WA, SA and Tasmania where only a minority actually invest time with SEO, social media and PPC.
The figures are a clear indication that the market place in Australia is still very immature with any online marketing related avenues.
The time has come for businesses in Australia to wake up and follow the steps of the UK and the US, where a city like Los Angeles would have up to 89% of companies adopted a Search strategy for there business.
