Baidu found to be allowing music downloading in China

An interesting story has been travelling around the media in Europe this week as Baidu – the leading Chinese search engine – has defended itself from major music labels concerning music downloading. Baidu has strongly protested its innocence claiming that it is only providing search engine type access to sites where downloading is possible and that the judge did not understand the situation.

Could this have happened elsewhere? Does this complicate Google and Yahoo’s legal position in China? It raises interesting legal questions.
