On October 14 Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn announced via their blog that they have achieved a historic milestone. The social network for professionals now has 50 million users worldwide and half of these users come from outside the USA.
11 million users come from European countries and India is currently the fastest growing market, with 3 million members to date. The Netherlands has the highest rate of adoption (per capita) outside the USA.
According to data from Alexa, LinkedIn has doubled its number of visitors over the last six months.
The top 10 countries with members on LinkedIn are –
1. USA
2. India
3. UK
4. Netherlands
5. Germany
6. Italy
7. Australia
8. Pakistan
9. China
10. South Africa
Celebrating this milestone Weiner says “LinkedIn has been global since inception” and it will be interesting to see what further growth will be achieved as more international versions of LinkedIn are rolled out.
