Dutch internet advertising to overtake radio

Forecasts from the Interactive Advertising Bureau Nederland are that within a year, the total spend on internet advertising in the Netherlands will have overtaken radio.

Igor Beuker, Director of the IAB Netherlands, says that total online Dutch Dutch advertising spend will reach 160 million Euros. Radio in 2004 was at 250 million Euros with TV reaching 757 million.

Growth in the second quarter of 2005 online grew by 8.6 million Euros over the same quarter in the previous year. The IAB calculates its figures from a group of major Dutch publishers adn does not include the spend from Google or Overture – but in 2004 these represented 34 million Euros in the Netherlands according to Forrester and this combined figure is expected to exceed 59 million this year.

It has already been reported that internet spend in the UK exceeds radio.
