British firm launches new search engine to compete with Google

The Times Online reports that a British firm is creating a new search engine to compete with Google. Previewseek has launched a beta search engine which claims to offer the most advanced search technology in the world – albeit currently just in beta.

The search engine shows a preview of the web sites it is listing (nothing especially new or useful there) and lists refinement categories so the user can rapidly fine tune their search. This is equally not original.

The search engine is due to launch in the UK in November. Google represents especially tough competition – even if this was earth shattering technology – there’d have to be big marketing bucks behind it nowadays.
