Chinese hate voicemail

There was an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal today about how the Chinese hate to use voicemail. Basically it interferes with their culture.
Leaving messages for people of lower status is seen as a loss of face.
Most meetings are done face-to-face so people are never at their desks.
They all carry cell phones and never turn them off – even in theaters and funerals.
Text messaging is huge.

This gives an interesting insight for people trying to do business in China. I am about to talk to our people and see if online chat is popular…. maybe 24/7 live chat and live support with no waiting needs to be made available to not lose from this cultural habit.
