Taiwan protests Google Maps calling it a "province of China"

On the Google map service Taiwan is listed as a province of China which has sparked a protest from the legislators of the pro-independence Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU). They are asking the government to launch a formal protest and the public to demand an apology. Taiwan maintains it is a sovereign, independent state that is officially called the Republic of China. Google has previoulsy been accused of readily complying with China’s strict censorship and this may be viewed, rightly or wrongly, as an attempt to further appease the Chinese government.
