Sogou, which means “search dog”, is seeking a spokesdog for their search engine. The winner gets an annual salary of 100,000 yuan which is about $12,000 USD. Considering the average salary in China is about a tenth of that, it will make some lucky dog and their owner very happy. Besides the salary, the winning dog gets dog food, a new dog house, pet schooling, and a chance to publish its own music records. Based on the traditional 12-animal astrological cycle, 2006 is the year of the dog. However if you are a human born in the year of the dog you’ll have a tough time finding any employment, let alone a job that pays so well. Companies in China are aware that 2006 will be a year of bad luck for people born under the sign of the dog and are not inclined to hire them.
